I randomly write my thoughts and keep them in a computer file---I ran across this today and thought it appropriate to share at this Thanksgiving season. Hope it touches you.
We Take for Granted
What do we take for granted in this world? More than we can count. The daily things we experience, enjoy, and have the advantage of would blow us away if we could make a list of such.
The very fact that every morning the sun comes up even if we don’t see it behind the clouds. There is light. Why is there light? Because God said it was so. He spoke it into being at the creation of the world. It will always be unless He says there is no more light. Hebrews 1:3 tells us that the world is at the power of his command.
Life itself---the very breath that we take every morning and throughout the day is promised to us by Him. Yet in a single moment that could cease to be if He makes it so. We open our eyes and begin a new day all because of Him. Yet we complain of the schedule and the trivial things of life and forget to thank the very One who gave it to us and could end it anytime.
Our children are the most precious gift He has given us. James Robison reminded me that the women of Africa do not have beautiful homes, pretty clothes, elegant stores to shop in---none of the luxuries that we have in our country. Their prize possession and very joy of their lives are their babies. Yet how many times do young and old mothers alike complain of the time taken by their children from their personal daily schedule. For the African mother her joy is gone if that baby dies.
God’s promises are endless, yet we do not claim those to our own good. We struggle with life by ourselves and wonder why we are unsuccessful. Yet if we took God at his word---the Word---we could lessen the struggle of life and find ourselves living more victoriously.
Thank you, God, and forgive me for my arrogance, selfishness, and stupidity in thinking I have the final say in anything. Help me to see you in every little detail of life and never take life for granted. Let us give thanks, praise and honor to God who knows all, controls all and created all. We are so finite and He is unfathomable. God is all in all.

So perfectly said! What a great reminder any time, but especially during this Thanksgiving season! I felt like I was reading a devotional from "Journey's" or something! I love to read things you write. Like I've always said, you have a true gift!
Love you!!
Karen
Becky, this is so true. It is sometimes so easy to take these and other gifts of God for granted, thereby missing His blessings! Thank you for the reminder, especially during the thanksgiving season!
Love,
Bob
